Renewable energy has been at the forefront of governments agenda’s, around the world, for the past ten years. With fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas on the decline it must be a key priority for all nations to look to invest in sustainable energy solutions and renewable energy.

Renewable energy can come in different types, but it is essentially working with the natural resource we have to help harness the power of them to generate energy. This can include more well known methods such as solar power and solar panels, wave and hydro electric power to wind energy turbines.

    Scotland and England

In the United Kingdom there are different amounts of help from the governments north and south of the boarder.  If you are north of the boarder there are more grants to help you invest in renewable energy Scotland. If you are in England then there are still grants available but you do get more in Scotland.

These grants come in different forms from help with insulating your home to funding and loans for solar power and solar panels.

Wind Energy and Hydro Electric Power

Wind energy is more of a controversial energy source than solar energy. When a planning application is submitted they are often met with some form of public rejection. This is caused because they do provide an unsightly vision on the land scape and if you live near by, they produce noise pollution.

Some anti wind farm campaigners claim that they also use more energy than they produce to get the turbines moving on a low wind day. However if they are put in places of the country where a regular strong wind supply is common place, such as the Scottish hills and coast lines in the UK, they can help to add to a renewable energy solution as art of other energy generation methods.

Hydro electric energy is less common place in the UK. There are plants in Scotland and in Wales that generate energy from water that is channelled through energy generating turbines.
